This monument of Our Lady was inaugurated on Saturday (16) in Ituporanga in Vale do Itajaí. This new pilgrimage site has, in addition to the 131-foot tall statue (compare with the 124-foot tall statue of 'Christ the Redeemer' in Rio) of the saint that weighs approximately 400 tons, a 164-foot-high cross. The cross is the first in Brazil with a panoramic view. To get to the base, visitors use an elevator.
To get to the statue of Our Lady by foot, visitors go up a staircase with 460 steps, with the company of the 12 statues of the apostles distributed along the way. There is also an access ramp for vehicles that reaches the base of the statue.
