The State Duma is working to create an inter-faction working group to protect Christian values, a source in the chamber told Interfax.
The group is being set up to consolidate the efforts of lawmakers and the Russian Orthodox Church in their legislative work and to uphold traditional values, Interfax was informed. Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has already given his blessing for the group's creation and work.
The group is expected to be headed by Vice-Speaker Peter Tolstoy ("United Russia"). The factions will be informed by January 10 as to which lawmaker wants to be in the group.
The eighth State Duma was elected in September 2021.
