In the year 303 A.D., these men willingly suffered martyrdom, while joyfully confessing their faith in Christ. In the Russian Orthodox Church, their feast day is celebrated on May 1.
The Martyrs Victor, Zoticus, Acindynus, Zeno, Severian, and Caesarius
At the time when the ungodly emperor Diocletian had raised up persecutions against Christians, St. George was seized and subjected to inhuman tortures. During the tortures, the Great Martyr George performed wondrous miracles by the power of God. Seeing them, many pagans believed in Christ.
Those who believed were soon subjected to torture. Some were thrown into prison, some were burnt in the fire, and some were beheaded by wicked men.
Saints Victor, Zoticus, Acindynus, Zeno, Severian, and Caesarius were among the number of those who believed. They were amazed that St. George received no harm from the wheel of torture, and publicly declared that they too believed in the Lord Jesus Christ.
By the judge's decree, the holy martyrs were arrested and beheaded. Their martyric death occurred around the year 303 A.D.
The first of May is the feast day of Saints Victor, Zoticus, Acindynus, Zeno, Severian, and Caesarius.
