“It was decided to develop regional legislative measures to possibly ban abortions in commercial medical institutions, leaving this service to government institutions, and, of course, to popularize family and family values,” said Andrei Kropotkin, speaker of the regional legislative assembly.

Such projects are also being prepared in a number of other regions - for example, they are being discussed in the Penza region and Mordovia, where a ban on inducing women to have abortions was recently introduced. In Tatarstan, a third of private medical institutions have already refused licenses for abortions, recalled Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Anna Kuznetsova.

“As inspections by Roszdravnadzor show, private clinics, violating the law and pursuing commercial interests, perform abortions on the day of treatment, do not observe the “week of silence” that is given to the expectant mother, and do not provide pre-abortion counseling with the participation of a psychologist, social worker and obstetrician-gynecologist. There is a direct violation of the law,” she said.

Along with the bans, support measures are needed for pregnant women, young families, large families, and families with children in general, emphasizes the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma.
