"Man of God", the highly acclaimed (and award-winning) English-language Greek movie about St. Nektarios - beloved by the people, but persecuted by religious authorities - will be displayed once more in theaters across the country on March 28. . .

Besides being a big hit in Greece and Cyprus when it was released last year, the film also received multiple awards internationally: the 43rd Moscow International Film Festival audience award winner; the Audience Award at the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival; Best International Film Award from the Siena International Film Festival; and the Grand Prize in the Spirit of Faith at the Religion Today International Film Festival in Trento, Italy.
The importance of a top-notch English language film, that leaves nothing to be desired in relation to other secular productions, for the spread of Orthodox culture worldwide cannot be overemphasized. Having had a good reception even among Roman Catholic critics, it can be said that "Man of God" was able to capture and transmit the authentic witness of Orthodoxy before other religious confessions.
St. Nectarius' story begins in Turkey, born to a poor family, many people regarded him as a saint even during his lifetime because of his prayerful life, his humility, his purity and other virtues, and his writings, as well as the miracles he performed. The monk and bishop of Cairo also had the gift of prescience. Beloved by the people, he was persecuted by religious authorities, stripped of his priesthood and sent into exile.
He was proclaimed a Saint of the Eastern Orthodox Church in 1961.
